Nell P. Palmer, 88, Monrovia, died April 4, 2009, in Miller’s Merry Manor. Mrs. Palmer was born August 19, 1920, in Jacksboro, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Eli and Carrie (Rector) Ray.
Mrs. Palmer worked in the fabrics department for L.S. Ayres for 25 years, retiring in 1978. She was recognized as a very accomplished seamstress. In addition, she was a member of the Monrovia United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Palmer also enjoyed writing poetry.
She married Wayne W. Palmer on December 15, 1940; he preceded her in death on February 29, 1980. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Chester, Glenn, Andy, H.D., and Vesta.
Survivors include her children, Wayne R. Palmer (Sharon) of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, Gene A. Palmer (Sydney) of Monrovia, Yvonne C. Johnson (Steve) of Monrovia; brother, Vance Ray of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, 10 a.m., in the Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville, with calling there on Monday, April 6, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m. Rev. Gordon Esterline will officiate the service. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monrovia United Methodist Church.
