Owen Lavelle Prescott, 97, Jonesboro, Arkansas, former Mooresville resident, died Thursday, April 9, 2009, in Jonesboro.  Mr. Prescott was born September 5, 1911, in Mooresville, the son of the late David Owen and Minnie A. Prescott. 

 

 He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was employed for 30 years by Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer, retiring in 1970.  Mr. Prescott was a 50-year member of the Mooresville Masonic Lodge #78, a member of the American Legion, Mooresville Friends Church and the Indianapolis Press Club.

 

He was married to Dorothea Farmer from 1930 until her death in 1990. In 1991 he married Mildred Rampley who survives him. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Eugene and Oliver Richard Prescott.

 

In addition to his wife, Mildred, he is survived by two step children, Tony Rampley (Vicki) of Jonesboro, and Rita Sherrod (Mike) of Jackson, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Dana Spencer, Justin Spencer, and Chad Rampley; one great grandchild, Braxston Spencer; nephew, Richard (Ann) Prescott; nieces, Jennifer Clark and Mary LaMay; long-time friends, Wayne and Wanda Greeno of Weiner, Arkansas.

 

A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, in the Mooresville Cemetery, Mooresville, Indiana.  Local funeral arrangements are entrusted to Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville.
