Schuyler Spoon, Jr.
Schuyler Spoon, Jr., 88, Mooresville, passed away April 10, 2009, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Mooresville. Mr. Spoon was born January 2, 1921, in Mooresville, the son of Schuyler, Sr. and Opal (Lewis) Spoon.  
 
Mr. Spoon graduated from Mooresville High School in 1939 and proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. A lifelong resident of Mooresville, he was instrumental in having petitions signed that brought sewers to Mooresville and water to the north end of town. Mr. Spoon retired after 35 years of employment at Bridgeport Brass. 
 
He was preceded in death by brothers, Richard and Loran Spoon. 
 
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Martha J. “Dit” (Hunter) Spoon; son, Michael Spoon (Rosa) of Indianapolis; daughter, Debi Anderson of Plainfield; brothers, Franklin “Pete” Spoon of Pittsboro and Maurice Spoon of Pittsboro; sisters, Patty Shumaker of Wilbur, Martha Michaels of Indianapolis, Faye Gallaway of Florida, Kay Stogsdill of Indianapolis; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.
 
Funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, 2 p.m., in the Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2009.  Burial will be in the Mooresville Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Mooresville Veteran’s Memorial, c/o Community Foundation of Morgan County.
