James E. “Bub” Johnson, 81, Mooresville, died May 11, 2009, in his daughter’s Indianapolis residence.  Mr. Johnson was born February 18, 1928, in Indianapolis, the son of James E. and Edna (Williamson) Johnson.  

 

Mr. Johnson was a carpenter for the William H. Block Company for more than 20 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Mooresville Church of God. In addition, Mr. Johnson raced sprint cars for 17 years. He and his wife enjoyed spending winters in Leesburg, Florida for many years prior to moving back to Indiana. 

 

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a son, Billy Johnson and a grandson, Kyle Allender; brother, Bill Johnson. 

 

Survivors include his wife, Maxine (Haworth) Johnson, they were united in marriage August 23, 1946; daughters, Bonnie Louise Johnson of Florida, Barbara Colleen Garrett of Indianapolis, and Christine Clevenger of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.  

 

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, May 15, 2009, in the Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May, 14, 2009. Pastor John Crump will officiate. Burial will be in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
