Oma (Johnston) Woods, 85, Centerton, died May 13, 2009, in Morgan Hospital and Medical Center, Martinsville. Mrs. Woods was born June 16, 1923, in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Luther and Alice (Pingleton) Johnston.
Mrs. Woods graduate from Monrovia High School in 1942. She worked early on in the stock room at G.C. Murphy in downtown Indianapolis, prior to marrying Harvey Woods and becoming a homemaker. She was a longtime member of Centerton Christian Church, now known as Abounding Grace Worship Center. In addition, Mrs. Woods was an accomplished seamstress and did alterations for many years out of her home.
Oma married Harvey W. Woods on May 24, 1946; he preceded her in death on October 14, 1984. She was also predeceased by her brother, Henry Johnston and a sister, Betty Jean Johnston.
Survivors include her son, Charles Woods of Centerton; daughter, Audrey Woods-Engelau of Martinsville; sister, Sally Maxine Neeley of Filmore.
Funeral service will begin at 12 p.m., Monday, May 18, 2009, in the Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville, with calling there from 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Centerton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. |
