Sherrill Bruce Gilkerson, 70, Monrovia, died May 18, 2009, surrounded by his family, in his residence. Mr. Gilkerson was born April 21, 1939, in Beaver, West Virginia.
Sherrill owned and operated Sherrill’s Drywall for 27 years, retiring in 2001. In addition, he owned and operated the Monrovia Inn for 11 years. He attended Gasburg Baptist Church.
Sherrill was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Gilkerson Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Pauletta (Robins) Gilkerson, to whom he was united in marriage Dec. 31, 1959; sons, Mark L. Gilkerson (Lori) of Monrovia, David B. Gilkerson (Shannon) of Monrovia; daughter, Cheryl Renee Wurtley (Kevin) of Mesa, Arizona; brother, Wayne H. Richmond of Terre Haute; sister, Sharon I. Hunter of Plainfield; four grandchildren, Jordan, Kylie, Logan, and Dalton.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, May 22, 2009, in the Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 2009. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall, Indiana. Rev. Jack Elliott will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Awareness Association. |
