Ina Mae (Comer) Jones, 99, Mooresville, died June 8, 2009, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Mooresville. She was born June 8, 1910, in Waverly, Indiana, the daughter of Dr. Jonathan and Ethel (Landers) Comer.
Mrs. Jones worked as a fifth and sixth grade teacher at Newby and Northwood in Mooresville for 15 years, prior to retiring in 1971. She was a member of the Bay View Club and had also been a resident at the Franklin United Methodist Community for many years in Franklin.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Franklin Jones; brothers, Dr. Kenneth E. Comer and Dr. Charles W. Comer.
Survivors include her sons, Charles C. Jones (Jeanne) of Mooresville and William F. Jones of St. Augustine, Florida; sister, Mary Alice Carpenter of Stafford, Virginia; 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather on Thursday, June 11, 2009, 5 to 8 p.m., in the Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville. The graveside service will be on Friday, June 12, 2009, 11 a.m. in the Mooresville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin United Methodist Community. |
